About Richard

Richard spent much of his life believing that the best lives followed a plan. It took years—and more than a few unexpected detours—to discover that meaning often waits somewhere else.

Like many of us, he discovered that life had other plans.

Over the years, he has served in the U.S. Air Force, worked in telecommunications, healthcare, retail leadership, and community service.

Each chapter of his life looked different on paper, but together they taught him the same lesson: meaning is rarely found by following a straight line.

Today, Richard and his wife, Daenah Rose, divide their time between community service, family, long conversations, and early-morning walks along the shoreline searching for sea glass.

He still believes the smallest discoveries often become the most meaningful ones.

Paying attention became its own way of finding direction.

This book is an invitation to anyone who has ever wondered whether life's unexpected turns might have been leading somewhere all along.

“I don't walk beaches because I expect to find treasure anymore. I walk them because they've taught me how to notice.”
